God Is Dead

We have killed Him — and we do not yet know what we have done.

Nietzsche's most quoted line, often misunderstood. He is not celebrating; he is reporting. The Christian metaphysical framework that grounded European values has collapsed under the pressure of science and historical criticism, but the values built on it — meaning, morality, purpose — have not yet absorbed the loss. Nihilism is the coming task: not the conclusion but the assignment.
